Projects

Electricity Extension

Without power at the synagogue or homes, Kabbalat Shabbat and other services are hindered.

Our intervention is to extend electricity supply to the Synagogue and surrounding areas through collaboration with local leaders and the electrification agency

Health Services

The nearest health center is 12 km away, with no emergency transport, causing preventable deaths, especially among mothers and children.

Our approach is to lobby for the construction of a health center within the community to save lives and reduce the travel distance to medical facilities.

Agriculture

Although Nasenyi has fertile land, poor farming systems and limited access to equipment result in annual food shortages.

There is a two-pronged strategy to this challenge: acquisition of a community tractor for easy ploughing and setting up an agro-processing plant for maize and rice to improve food security and household income

Education

Children walk over 7 km daily to attend schools founded by Muslims or Christians, where neither Hebrew nor Judaism is taught.

To tackle this challenge, we have resolved to establish a school on Synagogue land to provide education that includes Hebrew and Judaism studies.

Safe Water

Members rely on unsafe, open water sources shared with animals, leading to waterborne diseases and frequent malaria outbreaks.

We wish to build a solar-powered water well for the community and install rainwater harvesting systems for every home.

Why Support Us

While we are a resilient, hardworking and peace loving community, historical injustices, and marginalization have left individuals and the community at large in dire need of targeted, sustainable and much needed development aid.

Despite being a cornerstone of the Abayudaya’s growth, Nasenyi lags in development. Urgent intervention is needed to provide essential services like education, healthcare, clean water, and economic opportunities. These efforts will break the cycle of poverty and ensure a brighter future for Nasenyi and its contributions to the Abayudaya congregation.
