Honoring the Legacy of Aaron Kintu Moses
Aaron Kintu Moses was a respected educator, community builder, and devoted supporter of Jewish life in Uganda. He was a prominent member of the Abayudaya, a Jewish community located mainly in eastern Uganda around Mbale.
Education and Community Leadership
Throughout his life, Aaron Kintu Moses dedicated himself to strengthening his community through education, mentorship, and service. He served as the founding director and headmaster of Hadassah Primary School, where he worked tirelessly to ensure that children from different backgrounds had access to education. Under his leadership, the school welcomed Jewish, Christian, and Muslim students alike. He believed deeply that education could uplift communities and bring people together in mutual respect.
Aaron was widely loved for his humility, honesty, and generosity. Aaron also played a significant role in sharing the story of the Abayudaya with the wider world. As an experienced speaker and educator, he helped introduce many people internationally to the history, faith, and culture of the Abayudaya community. Through visits, speaking engagements, and partnerships with Jewish organizations abroad, he helped build strong relationships between the Abayudaya and the global Jewish community.

In his later years, he and several of his brothers raised concerns about the management of certain community properties and institutions. These concerns became part of broader discussions and ongoing legal matters within the community.

Support for Nasenyi Jewish Community
Aaron Kintu Moses also showed kindness and encouragement to smaller Jewish communities, including the Nasenyi community. Although he was not a member of Nasenyi, he cared deeply about its growth and development. Through his encouragement and example, he inspired many who were working to strengthen Jewish learning, community organization, and religious life there.

Aaron Kintu Moses passed away on September 11, 2020. His passing was deeply felt across the Abayudaya community and among friends worldwide. Today, his legacy continues through the schools he helped build, the students he inspired, and the communities he strengthened.
